Son of R.P. Cockle, commercial traveller, of 111 Chesterfield Road.

Cockle was born on 07/03/1897, and attended the School from 1911-1914. He served as a Driver in the Army, with the Royal Field Artillery "A" Bty. 351st Bde. Cockle sadly lost his life on 24/01/1917, as a result of the War.

 

Cockle is buried in Canford Cemetery, Bristol, grave reference Sec. V. Grave 4599.

"Left the School in 1914, died on Jan. 24th, in Connaught Hospital, Aldershot. He had never been a strong boy, though he was always willing to do his very best, and he should hardly have been passed for service. His anxiety to do his duty in the R.F.A. must have hastened his death." (BGS School Chronicl April 1917)
