Mager, Frederick Samuel

Son of Florence Maud Mager, Father (Frederick Walter) at E.E. at Singapore, of “Huntscote” Stoke Lane, Westbury on Trym. Older brother of Florence Muriel.

Mager was born on 25/03/1896, and attended the School from 1905-1914. He served as a Lance Corporal  in the Army, with the Honourable Artillery Company "A" Coy. 2nd Bn.. Mager sadly lost his life on 09/10/1917, as a result of the War.

 

Mager is remembered on Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium, Panel 7.

 

Demands of the War (BGS Chronicle April 1918)

"left the School in 1915 (sic), and shortly afterwards entered the H.A.C., in which he was made Lance-Corporal and attached to the stretcher-bearers. During an action on October 9th last he became missing, and though some traces were found, his death must now be presumed. His capacities had just begun to develop when he left Bristol, but his career at Durham was cut short by the demands of the war."
