Player, Eric Noel
Son of Charles Ernest Player, surgeon, of 60 Alma Road, Clifton.

Player was born on 04/06/1888, and attended the School from 1899-1905. He served as a Captain in the Army, with the Yorkshire Regiment 8th Bn.. Player sadly lost his life on 06/08/1916, as a result of the War.
Player is buried in Becourt Military Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt, France, reference I. V. 31.

"aged 28, 1899-1905. He was in the Vth Modern when he left the School, subsequently won his degree at Cambridge in 1914, and was at Salisbury theological College when war broke out, preparing for Holy Orders. He obtained his commission and was promoted to a captaincy in the Yorkshire Regiment. He was killed in action leading his company in an operation, the success of which according to his Major was largely due to his calmness, skill and courage."
