Sandy, Walter Fawkes
Son of Walter Sandy, retired property broker, and Laura Sophie Sandy, of Ashley Grange, Ashley Down Road. Younger brother of Edith L, and older brother of Ida Elsie.
Sandy was born on 28/07/1891, and attended the School from 1907-1908. He served as a Leading Seaman in the Navy, with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Drake Bn.. He was awarded the Military Medal. Sandy sadly lost his life on 25/03/1918, as a result of the War.
Sandy was awarded the Military Cross on 9th July 1917, Gazette issue 30172, page 6835.
Sandy is remembered on the Arras Memorial, France, Bay 1.
